Mark Damian: Behind the Scenes

I live in Los Angeles, but I’m extremely proud to say I’m from the Detroit area. I’m a musician, audio engineer, music producer, and I design sound bites and music cues for film trailers like Steve Jobs- Man in the Machine, Nine Lives, Paranormal Activity, Insidious 3, and Worlds of Warcraft.
I’ve been drumming for guitarist and vocalist Laith Al-Saadi, an Ann Arbor native, since 2004, well before his successful run on The Voice earlier this year. I enjoy teaching, prefer listening to music on vinyl, love animals, I’ve been known to tear up at movies, and I’m a big fan of the New England Patriots.

Tina Iaroshenko: Behind the Scenes

I came to New York for vocations for 3 weeks with one small yellow bag and I decide to stay this time (I have been visiting this country for about 4 years, but lived in Ukraine). Before Start Up, I worked as a director and show runner for Ukrainian TV. I also created TV characters for the hosts and set designs for a few shows, which was my favorite part. I monitored many fashion shows and played with many styles, colors, and forms, but mostly I tried to visualize my own ideas and mix it with pop style. The problem was that it was still Ukrainian TV, which limited my autonomy and creativity. I wanted more freedom and realized that without the education, my goal of becoming the next Dave Chapelle was minimized.

DOGGIE WASHERETTE LLC - ETHEL TAYLOR (Season 1, Episode 8)

 (Season 1, Episode 8)

1. How did you end up being cast on Start Up?  Did you submit or were you contacted?

I was contacted for the show. I was told that the show was shooting somewhere else in Washington DC and asked was there another creative business they would recommend. I realized the person they asked I had only met once at a Small Business Administration (SBA), DC Women's Business Center sponsored event. I am so happy she remembered, not to mention recommended me! Thank you, Monique Greenwood!
